This Privacy Policy explains how the Weather mobile application ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use it on your Android device. By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, please uninstall the App.
We don't sell your data. We don't show ads. We don't run analytics SDKs. The only personal-ish data the App ever touches is your location (if you grant permission) — and even then, it is sent only to the weather forecast service so we can return a forecast for where you are. Your saved cities, units, and preferences live only on your device.
With your permission, the App uses your device's approximate or precise location (latitude and longitude) to fetch a local weather forecast, live radar tiles, severe weather alerts, air quality and pollen data. You may also enter a city name manually or drop a pin on the map — in those cases no device location is read at all.
Cities you save, units (°C/°F, km/h/mph), theme, icon style, notification settings and onboarding state are stored locally on your device using Android's Room database and DataStore. We have no way to read or modify these records remotely.
When the App calls a third-party weather data provider over the internet, that provider's servers will see standard HTTP request metadata (your device's IP address, an anonymous User-Agent string identifying the App, and the latitude/longitude or place name you've asked about). We do not log, collect, or otherwise process this metadata ourselves.
The limited data the App handles is used solely to:
We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your information with any third party for marketing or any other purpose. The App does, however, make HTTPS requests to independent weather-data providers to fetch the actual forecast. Those requests are processed under each provider's own privacy policy:
We may also disclose information if compelled to do so by valid legal process (court order, subpoena, lawful government request). In practice we hold no personal data to disclose.
ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION / ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION — to fetch the weather forecast for your current spot. Optional.INTERNET / ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — to call weather APIs and check whether you're online.POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+) — to deliver severe weather and rain alerts you opted into.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED — to re-arm widget refresh and alert scheduling after a reboot.WAKE_LOCK — to complete a widget refresh while the device sleeps.FOREGROUND_SERVICE / FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC / FOREGROUND_SERVICE_LOCATION — required by Android 14+ when a one-shot refresh runs in the background.Local data is retained on your device until you delete it. You can wipe everything the App stores by:
Because we operate no user-facing servers, there is no remote copy of your information for us to delete. If you'd still like a written confirmation of that fact for compliance purposes, email contact@everybitt.site.
All network traffic is sent over HTTPS (TLS 1.2+). Local databases are protected by Android's standard application sandbox — no other app on the device can read them unless your device is rooted. We follow the principle of minimum data handled: if we don't need it, we don't ask for it.
No method of internet transmission is 100% secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security of data while in transit to a third-party weather provider.
The App is rated Everyone and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA / UK). If you believe a child has used the App and provided information, please contact us and we will help.
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding personal data we hold about you:
Because the App stores everything locally and we operate no servers, your rights are exercised by managing data on your device or by emailing us at contact@everybitt.site. We respond within 30 days as required by GDPR.
Third-party providers listed in section 4 are operated outside your country and may process requests in different regions (the EU, the US, etc.). The App itself transfers no data to us — we have no servers and no log files. Where you call a third-party provider, the appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy decisions, or the provider's own commitments) apply between you and that provider.
If we materially change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where possible, surface the change inside the App. Continued use of the App after a change indicates you accept the revised policy.
For any privacy question, data-subject request, or general feedback:
We aim to respond within 5 business days, and never more than 30.
